Samoa is made up of a group of 4 inhabited and 5 uninhabited islands in the heart of the South Pacific. The capital of Samoa is Apia, a colorful, historic, old South Seas town, on the island of Upolu. The largest island, Savai’i, is the biggest island in all of Polynesia outside of Hawaii and New Zealand. Spend two nights at the famous Aggie Grey’s Hotel. One of the highlights is your Apia sightseeing tour to Mulinu’u, the sacred burial grounds of Samoa’s chiefly families, the Parliament House, historical sites and Robert Louis Stevenson’s former house. Then transfer to Coconuts Beach Club or Sinalei Reef Resort. Your time is free to explore the island, enjoy water sports and step back in time at this ancient seaside Samoan village.

Tonga

The tiny Kingdom of Tonga, south of Samoa and southeast of Fiji, will captivate you. The land area of the entire country is smaller than New York City. The international dateline runs through Tonga.

See the Victorian white-framed Royal Palace and visit Talamahu Market, Tonga’s major fruit and vegetable market. Drive along the rocky coastline with its numerous blowholes and the dramatic Hufanglupe (the Pigeon’s Doorway). Visit Kolovai, village of the Flying Foxes recorded in Tongan songs and legends. Transfer to ’Atata Island for an unspoiled paradise which offers traditional Tongan fales, nature walks, watersports activities and genuine Tongan charm.

Vanuatu, formerly known as the New Hebrides, is a Y-shaped archipelago of 83 islands located 500 miles west of Fiji, between New Caledonia and the Solomon Islands. On arrival in Port Vila you will be transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay. While here, your itinerary includes a tour of Port Vila. Fly to Tanna for two nights. Drive to within 10 minutes of the top of the crater, via Lake Siwi and the ash plain. Watch the lava erupting (wear old clothes and sensible footwear; we also recommend bandanas, as there is a strong sulphurous smell). The villages are primitive and fascinating (the roads are unsealed). Return to Port Vila for 1 night before transferring to the airport.
